Research internships

Working on real finance problems

The everyday work of derivatives trading throws up constant questions and problems. This provides a great opportunity for master's students to be involved in solving real problems and applying their theoretical expertise in developing applied research solutions.

The goal of the internship programme is to offer excellent candidates a unique opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge, and gain experience working in an international finance organisation. Previous interns have found the experience to be both rewarding and interesting.

Prior research projects have spanned a range of topics such as:

  • Modelling pricing and hedging methods
  • Practical testing of recently developed methodologies
  • Devising approaches to solve problems that existing research has neglected
  • Applying a newly published approach based on simplified assumptions.

For a selection of current and past internship profiles go to the Case Studies section.

Bringing talent to industry

From the 20+ master's level internships the Foundation has helped facilitate, all but a very few have gone on to have careers in the finance or trading sectors. Many of the students also graduated from their degrees cum laude.
